Farsi Script Experiment

This project is an experimental investigation into the workings of the perso-/arabic script. Depending on the position of letters in a word and how or if they connect to neighboring letters, they take on one of up to four different shapes. While I was learning how to apply this rule correctly in my writing, I wondered if every letter could be reduced to a single form while maintaining its readability. With most letters of the alphabet, the system appears to work. However, some exceptions had to be made.
It has to be acknowledged that many people consider the writing systems they grew up learning to be deeply connected to their culture, history, religion, and identity. Therefore, my intention was not to create a more efficient version of the alphabet, but to investigate if a simplified version of it could be helpful for language learners like me, who attempt to study Persian, Arabic, or another language based on this script. Could such a simplified way of writing serve learners who grew up with a latin based writing system as a bridge to languages like Arabic or Persian and make learning them more accessible?
